IN the week the late George Harrison would have celebrated his 67th birthday this never-before seen photo shows him at the age of six.

The photo is one of a rare collection showing him during his years at Dovedale School, Mossley Hill, thought to have been taken in 1949/50.

It is taken from David Bedford’s book “Liddypool: The Birthplace of the Beatles” which includes other rare photos and official records.

Mr Bedford – who moved to Dingle from Guildford with his family aged four and attended Ringo’s old primary school St Silas – spent more than 10 years compiling the book.

It concentrates solely on The Beatles and their hometown of Liverpool, covering their rise from birth and childhood in the 1940s and obscurity, to their triumphant civic reception at in Liverpool in July 1964.

He managed to find the rare photos after digging in the old school archives, as his daughters attend the school.

The book also includes records showing George joining Dovedale on April 19 1948 and that his parents excluded him from daily religious assembly.

Fans of Harrison marked his birthday around the world yesterday with members of Liverpool Beatles Appreciation Society laying flowers at the Beatles statue in Cavern Walks.
