Was John fat in 1965?

He refers to his fat-Elvis period, but was he fat?

When I see certain photos he looks a little pudgy. I wouldn't call him fat. Some photos of Paul during the same period make his face look pudgy.

I always thought John was talking about his state of mind when he referred to his fat Elvis period, more than his actual weight.

Everyone knows John was obese (300+ pounds) until he got on the Subway diet, shed that weight, and then found true fame as a spokesperson for the famous sub shop.

Yeah, I would say John was a little over weight but he seemed to have shed it by the German/ U.S tours of '66. I always thought Paul looked rather tubby around the 68 - 69 period. Just look at those Mad Day Out shots.
