He's been a crooner before - and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Have you heard his rendition of "A Room With A View" from a Noel Coward tribute album, or his duet with Tony Bennett of "The Very Thought Of You"? This is the kind of music he grew up with (before discovering rock'n'roll in his teens). He's shown a fondness for old-fashioned songs in his own compositions such as "When I'm Sixty Four," "Honey Pie," and "You Gave Me the Answer," but those were more up-tempo. "Baby's Request" is probably the most like "crooning" of his own songs. This kind of singing takes more finesse and a more developed voice, and not everyone can do it well. This shows the versatility of Sir Paul. It pretty much comes down to personal taste - whether one likes that kind of music or not. But he can still rock, too!

None to worry. Though I didn't see him at this show, other times when he just sings, he kinda looks like he wants a guitar in his hand. Whenever I sing Karaoke I am so uncomfortable without a guitar, it is so noticeable. For me it's like, ok, what do I do, no chords, hmm, what do I do with myself during this 8 bar lead :) I think it's more just strange for us not to see a guitar in his hands.
