They were one of the many bands The Beatles left behind. Apart from their Beatles covers, they were very average. When they went their separate ways, The Dakotas became third rate Shadows and Billy J sank into middle of the road mediocrity.
I agree that they weren't a brilliant band. Certainyl not in my favourites...however my mum did see them on Hastings Pier in the Sixties and chased Billy J Kramer!
However now that I've told her that I've read he now wears a wig as he is completely bald and is very prima donna on the "Golden 60s" tours (all according to Mojo) she wouldn't chase him any more.
