Paul needs to go solo. If he wants special guests (i.e. the dude from Foo Fighters) -- cool beans, but it needs to be him alone. Frankly, Billy Joel and Elton are not in his league.

Joel I am disappointed in - he has completely stopped making new music-- which I think is the chickenshit way out.

i think he is spending his energy focusing on more productive aspects of his life now. like crashing drunkenly into innocent roadside maple trees. one might say he is livin' the dream.

my friend just came in and was reading these posts and he suggested a mccartney springsteen pairing after he saw my earlier post about nobody being able to hold his own with paul. i will say i think the boss is great live but what do you guys think? would it work?

I'd have to say I considered Springsteen for about 2 seconds and came back to my original conclusion. While Springsteen may be the greatest live act ever, its still wouldn't be right. Paul needs to perform alone. Maybe doing a song w/ Bruce would be great but I would leave it at that.

Although I just saw Bruce a few weeks back and even at 60 he puts on a show that puts young bands to shame. 3 hours of non-stop high energy rock, requests from the audience, interacting with the audience. There has never been anyone like Bruce and there never will again. But still after all that praise he can't hold a candle to Paul. But if anyone had half a chance it would be him.

Plus, can you imagine if they both did their full set.. we're talking over 6 hours. If I'm at a concert for 6 hours I want it to be all Paulie

Have Paul and Springsteen ever been as much as photographed together? Any links between the two of them at all? It's interesting that he's one of the only major guys that Paul's had no real professional contact with....
