Regretting my purchase of the Stereo boxset.

Postby the_kid_a » Thu Sep 10, 2009 2:16 pm

Out of impulse, I bought the stereo boxset thinking that it'll been more conventional sounding. However, after the purchase, the more reviews I read, the more I am regretting the stereo boxset. I should have bought the mono set.

Oh well...just a thought. Anyone else regretting?

If you're talking about the remastered albums, I bought them yesterday and I love them. They sound great on the 1000 watt Sony surround sound system in the house and the Bose system in the auto...But hey, that's just me.

Couldn't really afford to buy either box at the moment. Did purchase The White Album and Let it Be, and all I can say is

WOW!!!

Amazing difference between those and the 87's

Next week I will have to decide between Revolver, Abbey Road, or Hard Day's Night

Haven't heard either yet. Ordered mine off of Amazon. No matter if one is better than the other I still would've bought both. Besides I wasn't really planning on listening to the stereo that much anyways.

So if I might ask, what was the new opening on Sgt Pepper?

Initially I was going to buy the Mono Box because I knew it was going to be limited and then I would get the stereo CD's individually. I ordered the Mono Box via Amazon just before they were out of stock (which I'm still patiently waiting on). As 09-09-09 approached I decided to buy the Stereo Box too which I got yesterday at Borders. And I'm going to buy them individually, one or two a week to fill up my Box of Vision package. I heard "The White Album" tonight and it sounded fantastic and to my amazement "Rocky Raccoon" has the correct spelling. I'm pretty happy the way its been put assembled, remastered and marketed. Good job Apple Corps and EMI! And good job to Borders who seem to have a knack at restocking the Stereo Box.

Ion't have that much money, but had the chance to listen to some of the stereo versions online and have to say: They're AMAZING.

Why should you regret your purchase?

The stereo versions do sound good much better than the original CDs. But at times, the stereo makes the songs 'unnatural'. There is also a bit too much reverb added to some of the songs.

I haven't compared song for song mono and stereo but some of the earlier albums songs more natural and more energized.
