Yes Chris (and others): the remasters sound astonishingly good. I've heard Revolver and Abbey Road and was just stunned. You will hear harmonies and percussion you didn't know existed, Paul's bass work is even more impressive than you could ever have imagined, and you can pick out each and every instrument. But even more importantly than new details, the remasters sound strikingly fresh and new. There is a presence--its like being in the room when they were making the record-- and a clarity (especially in the voices) that makes each song sound like you are hearing it for the first time. They even put to shame the Dr. Ebbetts and Purple Chick vinyl transfers.
