Most Important Song/ Album

Postby bonovox66 » Thu Feb 26, 2009 11:19 am

I'm curious what every one here would consider to be the most important songs or albums of all time. Not necessarily your favorite but what you consider to be important to music.

Examples:
Bill Hailey And The Comets "Rock Around The Clock". It started Rock n Roll
Elvis Presley "Heartbreak Hotel". It introduced the world to Elvis. Without Elvis there would be no Beatles.
The Beatles "Sgt Pepper" album. I think we all know why this one os important.
The Beach Boys "Pet Sounds". Inspiration for Sgt Pepper.
CCR "Fortunate Son". I consider this to be the most important protest song of the 60's.
John Lennon "Imagine". Need I say anymore?
And I don't remember the artist name but "Video Killed the Radio Star" for better or worse it launched the video music age.

and so on....

I don't think "Imagine" is that important a record, it only got huge significance after his death.

In recent times:

"Nevermind" - killed off hear metal
"Grace", Jeff Buckley: spawned early Radiohead, Colplay, Muse, etc
"Is This It" - The Strokes. killed off nu-metal
May sweet memories of friends from the past
Always comes to you, when you look for them

anything that contributed the the slow, painful demise of hair metal should be celebrated. nicely done, sir james.

Why would you get abused for this? Queen is fantastic. Although, I don't think in the grand scheme of things that it was a very important album.
