"How Do You Sleep?"

It's funny how life imitates art. John's song "How Do You Sleep?", which was suppose to be a musical response to Paul about his song, "Too Many People", but John said, later, was written about himself. Well, McCartney, that's Jesse McCartney, has come out with a song by the same name, "How Do You Sleep?" It is not a remake of John's song. Just a different song with the same title.

C´mon, John wasn´t serious when he (alegedly) said HDYS was about himself....
It´s about Macca all the way - the first version of the lyrics was even nastier than the final version,
with curse words and the like
And guess who contributed one lyrics line or two each ? Allen Klein and Yoko Ono.
John said so in an interview !

ANYWAY, I love that bluesy rocker !!
And George´s guitar solo is one of the very best solos he´s ever performed on record or live !!
(John said that and I agree w/ him completely on that).

Why not? I actually he was very serious. He didn't have to say it - it's obvious enough as it is. Attacking others that way is often a way of dealing with one's own problems. Not many admit it, though. Major Kudos to John for doing it (I'm serious, OK? I know you think I'm being sarcastic, but I'm not!). And yes, I know what you're gonna say, he had his reasons to be upset with Paul, they were both equally to blame, Paul attacked him first with "Too Many People", I know all that, so let's not even get into this. These things don't contradict each other. Oh yeah, and about George playing guitar in this song - I don't know why he did it, I'm sure he had his reasons, it's just that I have NEVER blamed Paul for refusing to play in the Bangala Desh Concert after that. In fact, I think George had some nerve to even ask him. Guess he just knew perfrctly well who the audience would want to see... (and yes, I know he asked John and Ringo as well, so you can save your breath...).

Looking at the lyrics, I'd say it's about John AND Paul.

So Sgt. Pepper took you by surprise,
You better right through that mother's eyes.
Sgt Pepper was Paul's idea, so how could it have taken him by surprise? Must be more about John.
Those freaks was right when they said you was dead,
The one mistake you made was in your head.
This is obviously about Paul.

Ah how do you sleep at night?

This could actually describe either one! (If you take "live with" to mean "associate with")
Jump when your mamma tell you any thing.
This is the line John said was most about him. It certainly describes Yoko and him more than Paul and Linda.
The only thing you did was yesterday,
And since you're gone you're just another day.
This is obviously about Paul.

How do you sleep?
Ah how do you sleep at night?

A pretty face may last a year or two,
But pretty soon they'll see what you can do.
The sound you make is muzak to my ears,
You must have learned something all those years.
This whole verse could be about either one, also. It would describe John's paranoia and insecurity, but be disguised as lashing out at Paul.

I DON'T sleep at night - that's why I spend time doing stuff like this. Oh well - still, it's a good rocker and I miss John and George!
