The Man - Is There A Video?

I bought a stack of old Bealtes News magazines in the early 80's and one mentioned there was a "very expensive" video made for The Man - has this ever been aired or does anybody know anything about it? It might have been the time Macca and Jackson fell out so the single might have been shelved as a result.

well, good golly...i certainly hope not. can't say i'm a big fan of either the song or the album it comes from. good thing paulie went on to bigger and better things.

It definitely states The Man was slotted for a single - must have been after Say, Say Say and Pipes of Peace (although So Bad was released).

But the magazine definitely says there was a video shot for The Man, and the magazine was usually spot on on a lot of stuff at the time.

I have a video clip for "The Man" somewhere but I'm not sure if it was the original clip, if indeed there was one, or something knocked up later. It's from US TV in 1983 and it features just compilation footage of Paul .....it's pretty naff really!

Just found this in Keith Badman's "The Beatles After The Break-up 1970-2000".

"Wednesday Feb 2nd 1983 - Jackson arrives in London to join Paul in shooting a promotional film clip for the track "The Man". During Jackson's visit, he stays with the McCartneys at their Sussex farmhouse".

So a clip was made. Perhaps it was planned as a single after Pipes of Peace although a double A with Say Say Say would have made more sense.
