The Raconteurs enter Billboard chart at # 7

I really thought it would enter at #1.

jack white insists that this is not just a side project. this is a real band, he says. good news for fans, i say. this might mean more albums and an occasional tour.

I'm sure it will, without a single doubt in my mind.
They're great. I'm sick of the media depicting Brendan as some sort of sidekick though!

Some reviews over here are low (don´t think they have listened to the album). They say it is too much of the same???

But then you see all the postive reviews it has gotten!!

It'll be interesting to see where Jack White goes next. He's always talked about the WS having a limited shelf life. And Icky Thump, whilst a good, solid, highly enjoyable WS album kinda went over old ground, unlike the bold step of GBMS. I think, and hope, that the WS could now become the vehicle for his wacky, experimental, playful side; and the Raconteurs is where the straight rock n' roll happens.

Either way, I think he's the best American songwriter/performer of his generation, and I'm sure we'll be seeing albums way into the future from him in the vein of Mr. Young or Mr. Zimmerman

interesting thought. i think he brings an enthusiasm to his records that is highly out of the ordinary. however, some people around here think his sound is "strange". but anyone willing to bring something different to the table should be taken seriously. and he (JW, that is) sure does offer his own sound. too many cookie cutter musicians now-a-days don't have the balls to create something original.
