Give Ireland back to the irish best protest song ever?

Paul was never known as a political activist but give ireland back to the irish has to be one of the best protest songs ever.Not just because of the message but also because it is a good song.I know at the time he took a lot of crap and it was banned in the u.k. it was courageous of him at the time it was released.To say Paul didn't have it in him should think of this song and its timing.Happy st patrick 's day.What do you think ?

I think it's a great track!! Personally I prefer "The Luck of the Irish" by John & Yoko. My old band covered that on one St. Patrick's day gig, and we were without our off/on female vocalist (sang backup & some leads, and played, in the words of Dr. Winston O'Boogie himself, Extra Sensory Percussion- ESP) so we did the Yoko part double time rave up speed a la The Pogues We had a great keyboard accordion player, Reese Campbell, who used to play with The New Dylans (they actually did quite well...google them, reviewed in the Village Voice and all), and after our band together had broken up (Zu Zu's Petals-called that before the other band with that name) he reunited with The New Dylans (mainly him & another songwriter & backup musicians) and my new, then nameless, band had to follow them on a festival type bill...for that gig only, and just to hear the stage announcer have to follow "Ladies & Gentleman, The New Dylans!" with this...we went on as..."Ladies & Gentlemen, The Next Beatles!". For one brief shining moment I played in The Next Beatles...which now makes me an ex-Next Beatle...there's not many of us. No Blarney about it! Happy St. Patrick's Day & Blessings!!

Didn't think anyone would agree with me about this topic .I thought more people would disagree than did .was really just trying to get a different topic thread as i have been noticing the same ones being there for days.[except for song survivor]Hey you cant blame a guy for trying.Thanks to the guys who did reply anyway .

For me, the best protest song of all time is Masters of War by Bob Dylan off the Freewheelin' Album...the one The Beatles loved so much and had great influence on their future beliefs about war and their song writing from Rubber Soul until their breakup...Just an absolute great song which was written in 1963 but can certainly be directly applied to the current President (USA) George Dubya (dummy) Bush and his thug Vice President Dick (named that for a reason) Cheney.

I'm Fixin' To Die Rag by Country Joe McDonald from Woodstock...I decided to just post the lyrics since the youtube has the "F-Bomb" spellout and chant at the beginning of the song but I felt this song was one of the great protest songs of my generation which was at the time of The Beatles
