Mike nice to know you are nearby!! I lived in Buffalo from '91-'94, and have fond memories. What town are you from in Ontario? Maybe someday we'll meet up for a Macca gig. The one time I saw him was '89 in Toronto!!
I'll tell you what if I had never seen him, I'd go to Niagra Falls in a second (especially if I was 25 min. away!!). HE is great...sings and sounds great, great energy, and just amazing on the drums. And while I still standby my statements on the last three or so tour lineups, at least this is the best of those three...and Gary Wright is a pretty decent, if not outright great, addition. Being 90 min. (at least) away for me, added to the fact that I'm in the 8th (of 9) trimester of an excruciatingly demanding grad school program (Oriental Medicine) and perpetually low on funds I just can't manage it right now.
You are also right in that it is an amazing venue to see him in. I'm not into the energy of Casinos in any sense (gambling or the upscale corporate feel of the entertainment stuff), I got to see Blondie a few years ago for free (an ex-girlfriend married Chris Stein- who shares my penchant for all things of a mystical, magical nature- his great passion actually, and we loves lots of the same music...and yes. of course, he is an absolute Beatles fiend) at a similar nearby Casino near Syracuse, and the sound was top-notch, with intimate seating- pretty darn close to ideal really. I was heartbroken that I missed Steely Dan last tour as they played both Niagara Falls, and Turning Stone (the one near Syracuse) Casinos and I found out after they'd been there. I've never seen them, and they are a real a favorite of mine.
I may try to nab a ticket for either the Rochester or Buffalo sold out Springsteen shows (wait until the last minute and see if any scalpers get desperate enough to sell them at cost rather than have to eat them- haven't seen him since '84 & while The E-Street Band may still play live dates in the future, this is supposed to be the last tour), & I'll be seeing Richard Thompson solo acoustic for the first time in over a decade in April in Rochester. Hoping that Macca will tour as well, of course!!!!
Thanks for all you provide here with Macca-Central!!!! Blessings of Love & Light to You & Yours!!!
Om Namah Shivaya !!!!
