Next for Macca Radio: bootleg downloads

Postby jgkojak » Mon Jan 14, 2008 4:17 pm

Having just become infected with Beachboyitis, I was amazed at how EASY it was to find and download Beach Boys boots - this weekend I managed to download a collection of promos and b-sides, Brian Wilson's unreleased 1978 solo album "Adult/Child" and several versions of "Smile". That's the Macca Equal of downloading Cold Cuts, all the big b-sides, and the alternate Press To Play.

So I was thinking... why can't we make it that easy on here?

Check this out:

This page lists bootlegs that people post then upload to a file exchange site (i.e. massmirror.com, znet, etc.)

I'm still amazed at the number of regular posters who have never heard, say, Robber's Ball or Your School. It'd be great to be able to post when we all get a chance, our fave bootlegs to share with each other.

I doubt it is, strictly speaking, but then, being bootlegs, we can't "buy" them anywhere, can we, and even if we can (like at eBay, for instance), the money surely doesn't end up in those pockets where it should; the sellers are pirates (even if extremely nice and highly appreciated pirates - if it wasn't for them, there would be no "Rock Show" DVD to-date, and the world would be a lot less colourful place) themselves, aren't they?
It's the start of a journey
To a much better place
And this wasn't bad
So a much better place
Would have to be special...

There's a million Beatle bootleg sites. They aren't hard to find :P
"Wings IV introduced Jimmy McCulloch, a spunky lead guitarist with grit, able to spur Paul on unlike any previous soloist. His debut track, the magnificent single `Junior's Farm', stands as one of Wings' finest emotional and technical releases."
