I like Rockshow better than Wings Over America. Both were compiled from the same tour and contain alot of the same footage. EXCEPT.....WOA has songs that Rockshow left out like Lady Madonna, Long & Winding Road, My Love, Picasso's Last Words, Call Me Back Again, Blackbird, Richard Cory.....hmmm...I guess every song that Rockshow left out....lol. It also has backstage, travel and other interesting footage. So, I' gues what I'm saying is that WOA is a great tour documentary and Rockshpw is great if you want to experience the next best thing to a WINGS concert. Maybe Paul should release BOTH as a double DVD.

p.s.
I think WOA was produced as a TV special back around '79 or '80.

BTW-----
I'd love to see Macca produce a 3-D live performance film exclusively for IMAX theaters.
If anyone is not familiar with IMAX, see the link.

Is it just me or was the transfer of the songs from Rockshow better on the Wingsspan dvd than on the MccCartney years Dvd?

I think so. Although the sound is way better on the new Dvd.

Wasn't that TV special called "Wings Over the World"?

Yes & no.....
Wings Over America (which I saw for the first time on Cinemax in 1983 and later on VH1 around the time of Flaming Pie) seems to be the complete work. It includes all the Rockshow footage as well as all the Wings Over The World footage.
(see WOW http://www.maccafan.net/Video/WingsOver ... /world.htm)
But it also includes performances that neither of the aformentioned offer. Remember the "Dirt" tour? Remember Long & Winding Road in the opening film? THAT was on Wings Over America. Sooooooo, I guess it's safe to say that there were 3 (count 'em) 3 separate productions that came from that tour.
I just can't find WOA anywhere.....but I did tape it from VH1.

I've noticed that Rockshow on the McCartney Years DVD has gone through some very positive changes. My original copy of Rockshow has problems with the color being too dark or red at times. Sometimes the vocals and singers mouth movements don't match up which is very annoying.

The McCartney Years version has all of these things fixed. I was very surprised. The guys that worked on it did a fantastic job at cleaning it up. I have a hunch that they re-edited some of the video (used different camera shots than the original Rockshow). Can anyone verify this?

Everything on The McCartney Years has been cleaned and adapted for widescreen, so it only makes sense the whole Rockshow movie has gone through this process.
This is surely screaming out for a re-release!

i recall hearing something like (please pardon the fuzzy details...i'm getting old) paul was unhappy with something the distributor did with the film. that has something to do with why paul isn't really concerned with revisiting rereleasing the film.

just re-read this...i wrote it and i'm not sure i understand what i'm trying to say. if any detail is seriously wrong...please feel free to flog me with a soggy noodle.
