Albums Project

Postby Liam OSM » Sat Sep 21, 2002 10:48 am

Because I got into all of The Beatles stuff at once, I have never been one for singling out individual Beatles ALBUMS - just songs, and years.

As such, I have recently embarked on a project to intimately refamiliarise myself with the stuff, BY ALBUM. I shall be spending a set period of time on each album, and reacquainting myself with the ups and downs.

So far I'm still on Please Please Me (I'm doing it in chronological order, naturally). Loving it.

Actually, more like just TEN HOURS - according to the liner notes on my Sgt Pepper CD!

But you can really feel the enthusiasm they had for the music at that time!

So far my faves are ISHST, AMW and BIY.

The 16 was according to George Martin, in Roy Carr's book, but--10 or 16---truly amazing.

Agreed. Either way, they did it in just one day - which is better than anybody else could ever have managed! For sure!

Last Word Steve v Last Word Liam, the battle for posting supremacy . . . who will win?

Especially compared to Pepper later and ANYTHING today. Although Driving rain was recorded very fast as well vs. today's standards.

Oh, gawd, yeah. The time it takes to do an album today - if I ever manage to record an album, I plan on doing it much mroe quickly. And it will have that human feel to it that is sadly lacking in today's stuff - loaded to the brim with synthesisers . . . ugh.
