That was the point EV...there's a bunch that ARE members who aren't up there with the best...the one's mentioned beginning with Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers and ending with the Sex Pistols and Velvet Underground.

Do you seriously think that the Sex Pistols and Velvet Underground deserve to be in the Rock Hall ahead of Ringo Starr..."NO" would be the answer my friend.

They deserved it both VU and Sex Pistols. Ringo was inducted as part of the Beatles and that is enough.

The answer is undoubtedly "yes". VU and The Sex Pistols didn't have a ton of commercial success, but their influence on the landscape of music and future bands is undeniable. I'm pretty sure Ringo's solo career influenced no one. Well, maybe Laz! hehe

I love Ringo, but his solo career just does not demand that he be put into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Well, my list was totally ignored AGAIN! :x No Ringo, no E.L.O., no Doobies, no Styx, no Bosten, no Cat Stevens. Whats wrong with these rockhall people?!
(and don't tell me they're keeping Cat Stevens out just because he's muslum, i dont believe in his religon, but that's still no reason not to vote him in.)

(And everyone gets this wrong so let me clarify:
HARRY CHAFFIN wrote and sang "CAT'S IN THE CRADLE" a song about a father and son.
CAT STEVENS wrote and sang "FATHER & SON" of course the title says it all)

Popularity is a HUGELY deciding factor in these "halls of fame".

For instance, I should be in the songwriters hall of fame, but I'm not.

Cause, I ain't popular. Yet.

I love Ringo, but I don't think he belongs in the Hall as a solo artist. I just don't see him as groundbreaking or consistently among the greats in his writing. He's had a better-than-average solo career, but no HoF quality. Just my take on it. All Halls of Fame nominations (sports as well) are up for debate. It's part of the fun.
