What if...set list

Postby abner@xday » Fri Sep 20, 2002 1:25 am

If John had not died, I think that the Beatles would probably have gotten back together for at least one tour with a reunion at Live Aid being the catalyst. I always wondered if it had happened, what the set list would have been. My fantasy set list is below. The guidelines I set for myself were 30 songs (which would make about a 2+ hour show) and no solo stuff. I also wonder if the process of putting a set list together would have been easy or full of wrangling and negotiation for them. Anyway here it is:

1. Sgt. Pepper's
2. With a little help from my friends
3. I want to hold your hand
4. We can work it out
5. If I needed someone
6. Revolution
7. Get Back
(Acoustic set start)
8. Norwegian Wood
9. Something
10. Yesterday
11. If I fell
(Acoustic end)
12. Love Me Do
13. Drive My Car
14. Yellow Submarine
15. Lucy in the Sky
16. While my Guitar gently weeps
17. Day Tripper
18. Let it Be
19. Strawberry Fields Forever
20. Penny Lane
21. I am the Walrus
22. Here comes the sun
23. Hey Jude
24. Sgt. Pepper's (reprise)
25. A Day in a Life
1st Encore
26. Help
27. Hard Day's Night
2nd Encore
28. She Loves You
29. I Saw Her Standing There
30. Twist and Shout

Possibly, some Beatles reunion thing might have happened eventually . . . not sure about the setlist though. I'll have a think of one too, try and work out a list that would have rocked the house down.

Very cool set indeed, Abner. If John had lived, The Beatles would have reunited. No doubt. He (John) alluded to the fact that he would be interested on multiple occassions before his death. And if John were up for it, I'm almost certain the rest of the lads would join in too.

Nice thought, isn't it! Talk about having a "few" good songs to pick from! The Beatles. The Reunion Tour---that would have been awesome.
