Carnival Of Light

Postby Brains » Tue Sep 17, 2002 4:31 pm

I heard something about Paul releasing a new Beatles song, called Carnival Of Light. It's the soundtrack to a film made out of Linda's photographs of the Beatles, like she did with the Grateful Dead (I think). Has anyone heard this song? It's supposed to be 14 minutes long, and it's an outtake of the Sgt. Pepper sessions.

Hey Brains. I actually read an article about this a while back where Paul commented on it. I doubt it's gonna be released. Hold on, let me see if I can find it....

From MACCA-CENTRAL NEWS
McCartney to release lost Beatle track-report #772
Sunday, September 15, 2002 source - Reuters Article #772

LONDON, Sept 14 (Reuters) - Paul McCartney is to release a Beatles track unheard for 35 years as the soundtrack to a film montage of his late wife Linda's photographs, The Sunday Times said.

The 14-minute "Carnival of Light," first recorded by the Beatles when they were making their Sgt. Pepper Album, had last been played at a London
avant-garde festival in 1967.

Beatles producer George Martin was quoted by the paper as saying: "It was one of those weird things. It was a kind of uncomposed, free-for-all melange of sound that went on.

"It was not considered worthy as issuing as a normal piece of Beatles music at the time."

The paper said McCartney now planned to use it as the soundtrack to his "photofilm" of Linda's photos of the world's most famous pop group.

Did someone said Carnival?? Brazilian Carnival is awesome!!!!
Er... sorry!!! Nothing related!!!LOL[:D]
Seriously, I've heard about that somewhere, but a just little bit...
that's a very long song recorded on Apple studios, wasn't that?? Something like "You Know My Name" I think, they were just kidding on the recording sessions... I think would be interesting just as a curiousity.
About Carnival, there is a Macca's remix titled "My Carnival" on 12" record.

Peace.
