Paul's Shea Jacket

This wool Nehru collared stagecoat was worn by Paul when The Beatles performed at Shea Stadium in N.Y.C. on Aug. 15, 1965 was on display by an exhibitor at The Toronto Beatles Celebration. He also wore it for the NME-Winners Poll show in London, April, 1965 and for the videos of "Daytripper" and "We Can Work It Out" in November, 1965.

Gerald Scarfe is a cartoonist and illustrator (and husband of Jane Asher) who created an awesome paper mache' caricature sculpture of the Beatles for TIME Magazine's cover and feature story on the Sgt. Pepper album back in '67.

It was so-o-o funny looking, still the best Beatle caricature I've ever seen. Thirty years later in Washington DC, the National Portrait Gallery displayed the sculpture. It was interesting to learn and see that each of the Beatles had contributed an article of their own personal clothing and/or "love beads" for it. Paul donated a rather flashy looking nehru shirt.

It seems difficult to find a good jpeg of it all on the Internet, but it's a good'un. 8)

They look marvellous in those jackets at Shea Stadium! Great footage and great show!

Wonder why don't they release it on DVD, it seems that there's lots of footage.

Anytime I see images from those shows I wonder what happened to those wonderful fans, where are they now, what do they recall from the show, how do they see themselves looking at those images...

I think most of it is in Anthology, isn't it?
Mind you, might be getting it mixed up. I also got hold of it on pristine VHS as a separate thing.
Got a feeling that Neil Aspinall's 'Hold back the river' approach to reissues has been and is right. I think there's been a little too much Apple action this decade and a little more might cause a 'recession'....

The footage for Shea Stadium has been digitally remastered. Proof of this is the clips from anthology so why oh why it has never been officially released I'll never know.
The same goes for Let It Be (nowonder they got rid of Aspinal)!!!!
