What Paul albums would you like to see performed?

Postby blackbirdla » Thu Sep 12, 2002 4:24 pm

The "SOLO BEATLES BAND" (we STILL nedd a name!!) has decided that each gig, the second set will be an album performed all teh way through. So far, RAM and IMAGINE have made the cut. What else do you think would be a hit? ALL THINGS MUST PASS is too long, MCCARTNEY is a must, as is VENUS AND MARS, PLASTIC ONO BAND and ....hey, you guys come up with some ideas!

I think Back To The Egg would go down well live.

Well, we're already doing GETTING CLOSER and ROCKESTRA from Back to the Egg, and Driving Rain just hasnt moved me th eright way yet. I enjoy RINSE THE RAINDROPS, but overall, I find the record a little uninspired. I think half of Flaming Pie (the under-produced, acoustic stuff) was better. Of course, I don't like the other half of Flaming Pie that much at all (I mean, Beautiful Night...c'mon Paul!)

Uninspired? Driving Rain? Whoa. Maybe you need to keep listening to it, man. Driving Rain is one of Paul's most emotional efforts. Maybe his MOST emotional and inspired effort.

You don't like Beautiful Night?? That's probably my favorite song off the album! But to each his own.

Driving Rain is his most personal and inspired work to date IMHO. [:D]
And it rocks harder than any of his previous efforts. YES!

Just my opinion, guys.I find a lot of lyrics on Driving Rain trite (ex.1-2-3-4-5, let's go for a ride...) , and many others to be poignant, articulate pieces of work that ruminate on death and healing. This is what I like about Paul, though: he'll take chances. Do those chances always work out? Of course not. But I like the journey he is on.By the way, I find the song "Heather" to be the greatest Ben Fold Five song they never recorded.

I felt the exact same thing when I first bought the album. At least about that one lyric. But I got used to it. I don't find many trite lyrics on Driving Rain. I'm telling you, man, you gotta keep listening to this album. It grows on you.
