Yes...a friend of a friend of his cleaning lady's cousin says so......seriously..I don't recall that either....there a lots of poorly written beatle books that come close to quoting them at times..they are very clever how things are worded to make the causual observer think it is the gospel. Maybe this is one of those cases.

I just listened to this album for the first time in maybe six months. What a great, sprawling, wonderful mess of an album it is, going 50 different directions at once. Best song? Impossible to pick, because what makes the white album great is the contrast of wildly different styles and sounds... Happiness is a Warm Gun; Long, Long, Long (an often-forgotten gem); Blackbird. Surely the Beatles' most demented album, and that's what makes it great.

The one thing I remember about the white album is getting it for christmas 1984 in cassette form. in those days the Uk cassette version was on a single 'double play' cassette, with the running order slightly altered, as was the case with all the beatles cassettes in the UK apart from Sgt Pepper. To this day, I don't understand why EMI did this. anyway, back to the white album. I playes the whole cassette over and over again for the next few weeks. It was and still is one of my all time favourite albums. My favourites are Dear Prudence, I'm so Tired, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Revolution 1, Birthday, Rocky Racoon, to name just a few. In many ways, the white album reminds me of Rubber Soul - both albums containing a lot of acoustic songs with a 'back to basics' feel.
