Yeah, I heard this on the radio on the way home from work. I'm not going to say I agree with this list, exactly. However, as we all get older, we are going to have to get used to the fact that new music (radiohead, i'm okay with) is going to start creeping up on these lists.

Nevermind, and Dark Side...its really hard to argue against those albums being on a list like this. I will accept that it might be unreasonable to expect to have 4, 5 or 6 Beatle albums in the top 10. But holy flying monkey poo, batman...where is Abbey Road?

Well, the Brit's seem to come up with a new "Best List" every few weeks.


Still, no matter what the order, or who's on it, you usually get 10 pretty good choices. But, you're right, as we get older the list is going to get more and more "new-ish" bands on it. It does show on thing though....40 years later, the Beatles are still up there. They must have been pretty good eh?

According to whom? Link? Is this another Rolling Stone poll thing? The list seems to be flawed from the outset with 2 Oasis albums in there. How could a band that sounds like a 3rd rate Beatles cover band at best possibly top Sgt Pepper?

Oasis.....I hate them. So undeserving of the number 1 spot. But, as someone said, we are gonna have to get used to the fact that our boys are going to have a fight on their hands for those number 1 spots!

Oasis have 2 albums on the list. They are not that good. They are all right. You get tired of listening of the them!!

Where is Bob and Jimi, Led Zeppelin, The Who??

I talked to a freelance journalist in Europe once that wrote for Mojo occasionally. He said the attitude there and with most of the British music magazines is that the music world revolves around England and more specifially London. Granted, it is a British publication and naturally there are going to be some biases there, but come on - One North American artist in the top 10? Not to mention the racism implied by excluding any R&B artst. I can think of dozens and dozens of albums that are better candidates for top 10 than at least half of these:

Blonde on Blonde - Dylan
Pet Sounds - Beach Boys
Rust Never Sleeps - Neil Young
Fear of Music - Talking Heads
What's Going On - Marvin Gaye
I Never Loved a Man - Aretha Franklin

Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
Darkness on the Edge of Town - Springsteen

I could go on and on...

Gee, I didn't mean for this list to start a war.

You have to look at the demographic of the voters. Who reads Mojo or NME ? White Males 25-40 probably.

I didn't see anything wrong with that list. There will be a new list next week anyway...and Britney Spears will be on it.


Besides, how many people are reading that list right now saying..." Good Lord! Not the freaking Beatles again!"
