but Federer is supreme on all surfaces, he doesn't seem to prefer one over any of the others

Being an Agassi fan it doesn't give me pleasure to see Federer explode into the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I thought by seeing Pete retire...we'd get to see more Grand Slam wins for Andre', but I guess that is much less likely to happen with Roger around.

Nadal is pretty darn impressive too.

CERTAINLY - of this era. A few more majors and he will surpass all. I just wish he had some competition to make it all more exciting. McEnroe-Borg-Conners era was the best for spectators, there was excellent competition just below them, too. I don't see anyone stopping Roger!

Yes it was more exciting to watch tennis years back when Borg/McEnroe/Connors played. I have always loved McEnroe, I simply loved the way he played. You were sure something very spectacular happened when he played. I can see a little of that in Federer, but he hasn´t got the carrisma that McEnroe had. I don´t like players like Roddick who play too much power tennis.

Federer is in the Wimbledon final again. He is truly amazing.

Not Yet!

If he continues to win on all surfaces, except clay, it's just a matter of time.

If he breaks through at the French - NEXT year, it'll be sooner.

If Nadal steps up on other surfaces - or someone else challenges Roger on those surfaces - than he's still in the running, but not a sure bet.

His championchip mental approach should have him ready for Wimbledon. Then, momentum will be back on his side in the "best ever" discussion.

P.S. - I'd like to see Macca have breakfast at Wimbledon!

He really is one of the best. But I hesitate to call him the greatest because his competition is so weak right now. Would've loved to see him play in the 80s against Borg, Courier, McEnroe, Connors and a young Agassi and Sampras. Then we could've really known how good he is!
