he plays guitar like his fingers are on fire! he also tinkers on the piano.

he's just a great singer, guitarist and songwriter. buy yourself some White Stripes albums. they started off very bluesy, but now moving in a more alt-country direction. but when Jack plays guitar, man it's good!

NPC Musician of the Day: Blues performer Guy Davis.

I recently went to see Guy Davis(son of late actor Ozzy Davis) perform at a local theatre. I was just amazed by this man's energy and ability to give a show without accompanyment. The show itself was given in a "Storytellers" fashion. Very interesting songwriter and great player. Before I went to this show, I never even heard anything by Guy Davis. After the show I couldn't get enough of him. With songs like Uncle Tom's Dead, Chocolate Man, Po' Boy and many others.. it didn't take long to win me over and turn me into a big fan. If you don't know Guy's music now, get to know it. You most certainly won't be disappointed.

I would think if I were still 20, I'd be screaming their praises....as an old guy, yeah, they're pretty cool. :)

Yeah thanks for the heads-up on these guys. They just don't sound very unique to me. Just another amalgam of The Strokes and Franz Ferdinand. It's ok, I like that Vampires song.
I needed comfort of love just to get me some piece of mind.. wo-oh

They do have some pretty decent lyrics, or at least song topics though for young guys. Not that being young means you're not socially aware or anything, but it's nice to hear something other than boy gets girl, boy loses girl songs. Plus the lead singer is pretty darned good on that guitar...at least I think so. :)

Peter Buck of R.E.M. - Just a great musician with great ideas. He's not the greatest guitar player, but he brings a lot of great influences into R.E.M. I loved his playing on the Monster album, and I like a lot of the songs he writes. (Like E-Bow the Letter from New Adventures in Hi Fi) He brought a lot of Brian Wilson influences into the band as well. (Especially on the Up album)
And in the end...
