Video-wise, Macca has always been more in his element when he's flat-out slapping his bass or playing guitar. This is always exciting and what most fans really want to see, live or not.
I'm not much for seeing him walk around serenading nature or singing while being an actor in some heavily-themed scenario. True, it may transfix the hardcore worshipper, and an artist should mix-it-up, give the public a variety in visuals, but if he's going to do that, it should at least be very clever. I think Coming Up ranks as his best.
The Driving Rain and Your Loving Flame videos were clever, but I'd still rather see a video of Mary Had A Little Lamb because he's performing with a band--even if miming.
I thought the best acting he's ever done was on Saturday Night Livein '93. That should be on any official compilation as a great bonus!
