Oasis was a great band. Now they're just a good band. It was the media who started the comparisons between Oasis and the Beatles.

2 right gastro -also the real fans didnt care what they sounded like - in most cases it was the people who hated oasis who started the beatles comparisions . ok they pushed it too far at times but then so did the Jam and no one ever slagged them.

I think that what's REALLY BAD about Oasis is not one, but two nasty personalities. The Lemon brothers act that way to boost attention and sales and/or they're just like that - not my kind of people in any situation.

I listened to 3 Oasis CDs and just could not get into any of them. To me, any Beatle similarity, let alone a comparison, was a major stretch.

I'm not necessarily knocking 'em----to each his own, and to each generation their own.

My picks for direct Beatle influences are Crowded House/Neil Finn and Michael Penn. I've got all their releases and that's exactly why I buy them. XTC have turned out solid tunes close to Beatle caliber too, for my money.

Yup, Crowded House are right up there on the "influenced by" list - and very talented too.

Most influenced guitar solo:
Listen to a track called "As You Are" by Travis.
Great song, great solo.
The first half of the solo is 100% George, the second 100% Paul.
You'll see what I mean if you hear it, it's uncanny....
