Only A Northern Song

Anybody know who plays the weird trumpet souonds on this song? I heard somewhere Jim McCartney did them, but I find that hard to believe.

I don't remember, but I know it wasn't Paul's dad. It was either Mal Evans or one of The Beatles. I'll have to look it up.

The book "The Beatles Recording Sessions" by Mark Lewiston probably has the information you´re looking for. The song you´re interested in was recorded in ´67, around the time of the " Sgt. Pepper" sessions.
If I took a wild guess, I´d say George and some fellow Beatle played the horns and added sound effects (percussion et al.)themselves...
