Anthology versions VS the "familiar" ones

Postby Helter Skelter » Mon Jul 07, 2003 3:14 pm

Is there anyone here who actually likes some of the versions on the Anthology CDs more than the well known versions?

I actually prefer Across the Universe, Only a northen song, The long and winding road & You know my name on the Anthology CDs.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps. The rock version on the White Album is good, but George's demo is much better imho.

Good Morning, Good Morning, I Am The Walrus and Hello Goodbye. The guitars sound great. They are so up front in the mix and aren't drowned out by the other production ideas that got added later.

I prefer Obladi-Oblada, Cry Baby Cry, Fool on the Hill, I'm Looking Through You, the weird version of Got to Get You into My life, the acoutic first take version of Strawberry Fields is awesome, the faster version of And I Love Her.. the rawer version of You Can't Do That...

You know what Helt.. when I listen to AHDN... I think that version of AILH is awesome...then when I listen to Anthology... AILH has such a different spin to it than the released version that I fall in love with that too... of the songs that I mentioned this is the one where I like both probably equally...

The great thing about that is that after John's acoustic demo ends, the Beatles' take 1 begins. What an enormous difference!
