I don't know how you can say Linda's contribution to Wings was over-rated... no one took her position in Wings seriously, not even Linda herself...

I can't stand listening to Paul saying he was the avant garde one and not John... or before John became avant garde... I don't think that has any relevance to any fan... it's the music that counts....

I'm actually starting to feel that Driving Rain is not as good as it seemed a year ago when it first came out... but I'd still say that it's under rated...

If ya want more- get back issues from Beatlefan and read all about them.
Start your very own Denny Laine fan club, I'm sure he'd appreciate that.
MY Abe is a killer drummer.
And megs' Rusty is a fabulous guitar player.
Paul isn't gonna call the old Wings and get back together with them.
Anymore than he and Ringo are gonna form a new Beatles band with Julian and Dhani.
It's over.
Wake up and smell the coffee.
And as for John's nasty attacks against Paul, that too is long over as well and long before John was murdered.

Great post, Auj. Yes, I don't think Rusty and Abe are overrated by ANY means. They are phenomenal musicians. And as for John's vicious attacks on Paul, like Auj said, that was pretty much settled before John died. As far as everything I've read and heard, they were at peace with each other before John died. And John was even complimenting Paul's music.

Just ignore, folks. CP takes the opposite view of the masses and tries to conjure up a spat in the name of "calling macca out", or "one man's opinion". Boring---Double YAWN. Rusty and Abe are so good it's scary. Q-tips may be in order.

I still hear you about Rusty and Abe - they are brilliant. But, being an older person, i'm still partial to the Joe English and Jimmy McCullough version of Wings. I always thought that line-up was tight and brilliant. If only, Abe and Rusty could have been around in the mid 80's when Paul needed a spark to really kick him in the rear - that would have been sweet.

Lennon, overall i feel, is really over-rated as a rocker. His sensitive ballads are as brilliant as Paul's in my view. Paul as a bass player particulary on good night tonight live is outstanding and that funky, stupid fresh version of Coming up on back in the USA is damn good.

I still think Linda's song-writing skills were embellished by Paul in the documentary - but like he said - i don't take music seriously so, in the end, he looked at it from that perspective and not as serious as the fans and critics would - so you have to cut him slack i guess
