Hi...Just thought I'd drop by. I believe I heard in an interview with Paul that "JET" was inspired by his little black puppy at the time named Jet. He took his acoustic guitar and puppy in tow and went to a field and sat down and wrote "JET" while the puppy was running around. I don't believe the song is about the puppy, he took the puppie's name and wrote a song around that. Does this sound right Paul???

I believe you're right, Magill. If you listen to the lyrics, it's obviously not about a dog. Just the title came from the dog. I heard Paul explain in an interview not too long ago that there was a lot of nonsense lyrics in the song, that didn't mean a thing. Like "lady suffragette" and stuff like that. He was just making up words to rhyme. I think it's a nonsense song through and through. Fine by me...the song ROCKS!!

I agree, Ram. He was using words to rhyme and he used the puppy's name. The word suffragette hasn't been used in our common language, really, since the 1920's or 1930's.

suf·fra·gette [ sùffr jét ] (plural suf·fra·gettes)
noun

woman campaigning for right to vote: a woman campaigning for the right of women to vote in elections, especially one who took part in militant protests in the United Kingdom in the early 20th century. Among the leaders of the suffragette movement in the United States was Susan B. Anthony.

I just had to post it, LOL.

So Ram's contention that "lady suffragette" was a nonsense lyric is right on the mark. A suffragette WAS a lady by definition---so no need to put lady in front of the word and whatsmore, that word doesnt fit with anything else in the song. Am I making sense here? probably not, LOL. He was just making a ryhme with the word Jet.
