Which album should I Buy?

Postby Thomas » Sun Sep 15, 2002 2:28 pm

I want to buy a new McCartney album. I already own

Wings Over America
Back To the Egg
Broadstreet
All the best
Flowers
TTLF
Unplugged
Chobba B CCCP
Off the Ground
Paul is Live
Flaming Pie
Run Devil Run
Wingspan
Driving Rain
(I also have Venus & Mars on MD)

Wich one is the first one I should buy. Off course the goal is to own them all, but I'm saving for the time the Driving Rain tour comes to the Netherlands [:D]

Hi Thomas,
You are very wise to save your money for a future concert.
Hopefully early next year you will get a chance to see Paul.
I would suggest you buy Ram. Super songs and a nice positive vibe with that album. Also Band On the Run is favored by most McCartney fans as being Paul's best, so it is very good to get that one.
It's a great album.

I'm surprised you don't already have Band on the Run... That, and Red Rose Speedway are my favorite Wings albums. The first one doesn't need any introduction, and I know that some fans are not very fond of the second one... but I think that Red Rose Speedway contains some the very best Macca's songs: My Love, Little Lamb Dragonfly, One More Kiss, get On the Right Thing, etc.

You don't own many Wings albums. McCartney, Ram and BOTR are the ones you should definately have. McCartney just because it's the first, and interesting (can an album be more different from Abbey Road?) and Ram and BOTR for the awesome music.

I'm surprised you bought Wings Over America and especially Back to the Egg before Band on the Run, McCartney, or Ram. ALL of them superb albums of course, but BOTR, Macca I, and Ram kinda set the tone for the rest. I'd say buy them in "chronological" order. Start with McCartney, then Ram, then BOTR, then TOW.

Thomas:

My esteemed colleagues are right. BOTR and TOW are must-haves for any Macca-fan. Ram and Mac1 are also well worth getting. After that, you can get the rest in any order, they're about the same. But you're permitted to um and aah over Mac2. It's not great.
