I don't think I could put these in exact order. These are just a few.

clapton- what can I say

george harrison-I always felt that george was kind of underrated as a lead guitarist

lindsey buckingham (fleetwood)

ace frehley-underrated also(kiss)

bruce kulick-palyed with kiss from '84 to '95. flawless in kiss unplugged

chet atkins-seen some of his stuff courtesy of my husband. This guy is unbelievable.

don felder-great in hell freezes over (eagles)

joe perry (aerosmith)
jimmy page
pete townshend
paul simon-always loved kodachrome
jerry reed-his nickname is the claw, if you seen him play you would know why.

I notice neither one of you mentioned James Marshall Hendrix-the best of all time..but I guess that's just a given.

Stevie Ray Vaughan (although most of his stuff was a cop off of Hendrix, but still)

I don't think I'd list Pete Townshend though. He's one of the best composers and arrangers ever, and his stuff SOUNDS good, but I don't think he's really all that good of a guitarist. At least, definitely not outstanding. But don't get me wrong, I LOVE him and I'm a huge Who fan.

Yeah, airdog. I saw them twice back in '95. It was phenomenal. When you see Les Claypool play, it doesn't even look humanly possible. BUt what amazes me about him even more is that he can play all these elaborate bass lines WHILE singing and remembering lyrics at the same time. Amazing.

I'm glad you mentioned Stanley Clark. I was gonna mention him. Don't worry, I forget her name too. Do you own Brian Wilson's "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times"? I think she plays on there as well.

Yeah, R1, I've got all the Beach Boys Boxed Sets, and the only other boots I'm interested in at present (besides the Fabs) are Beach Boys related. I'll look up the broad's name when I lift my carcass outta this chair in a few minutes...

Her name is Carol Kaye! do you have the Pet Sounds Box, or the Good Vibrations Box? massively interesting, and more fun than a crate-full of rabid armadillos!
