Best 3 consecutive albums?

Postby oobujoobu1971 » Sun Dec 08, 2013 3:36 pm

We've done 3 best consecutive songs, how about best 3 consecutive albums?

I would pick from these options-

Band On The Run
Venus & Mars
Wings At The Speed Of Sound

-------------------

Flowers In The Dirt
Off The Ground
Flaming Pie

-------------------

But, I think I'm going to go for this-

Chaos & Creation
Memory Almost Full
New

But then I'm not sure you can say Chaos/Memory/New

Electric Arguments and Kisses are two studio McCartney albums. It's cheating a bit.

more than a bit, i'd say, James...EA IS a bona-fide, 100% mccartney studio album...through and through

as for the oobs 1st suggestion...hmmmm, no offense , but i'm afraid i'd lean far more mightily at RRS/BOTR/V&M...than include WATSOS: RRS is, imho, a far better set...but that is me

..and i couldn't go w/FITD/OTG/FP as, in my humble o, OTG is a bit weak, too...

luv-luv-luv lobbys' entry...really is quite a nice run, there...fabulous

and james' C&CITB/MAF/EA is a mos' def winner on all counts, too...for that matter, so is M/R/WL

so far...unless i can think of some way to cheat..it'd be a tie between lobby & james with me eagerly noddin' my head either way

...of course...if we are discounting albums not entirely written by sir p...than why not MAF/EA/New :-D

there ya go !!!

either way...interesting idea oobu :salute

I'll go with:
Pipes of Peace
Give My Regards to Broadstreet
Press to P...hoho...just kidding!

How about: Chaos, MAF, and EA.

I find the "3" rule to inhibiting.

I'm going for five, so that I can get C&CITBY in the beginning, and NEW to finish it, which would make the list look like this:

CHAOS & CREATION IN THE BACK YARD
MEMORY ALMOST FULL
ELECTRIC ARGUMENTS
KISSES ON THE BOTTOM
NEW

If you want to stretch it back a few years, starting with FLAMING PIE, the man has put out 7 exceptional albums out of 8 (with DRIVING RAIN being the only spotty one). Nowhere in his solo career has he come close to sustaining this kind of consistency and quality-- on every level.

I know opinions differ here, but I really find that his solo work, on the whole, has improved with age. Something happened to him post-Beatles Anthology (coupled with the tragic illness, and eventual loss, of Linda). His art has caught up to his melodic gifts. Too bad he's well past the "teeny bopper Top 40 pop hit" stage. But, that's ok. He's had his fill of hits-- with the Beatles, and without.
Paul is making music for himself now, and that's good news for his fans. Artists should ALWAYS makes music true to themselves.

I just hope we get a couple more before he's done.

DRIVING RAIN has some pretty good songs. I just don't think it stands up well as a full album. It's too up and down. But, it does have it's really fine moments.
