Pauls best album covers

Postby mhnso » Tue Mar 13, 2012 11:20 am

Macca have made an awful lot of albums -here we have discussed them from many wiews but what about the covers -of all Maccas output with or without Wings which of the covers do we like most. Here are my five favorites

1. Band on the run - without a doubt a real iconic cover - very clever
2. Ram - Always like the countryish flavor of this one - even though Lennon had some fun with it
3. Chaos and creation - Don t really now why - just like this picture of the young Paul in the backyard
4 .Mccartney - very simple and very close to the feel of the album
5. Paul is live - Both a rather funny title and cover a la Abbey road

I don't think anyone will argue with Band on the Run being # 1.
But my # 2 is actually my least favorite Macca album - Press to Play. I love the black and white photo of him and Linda. So beautiful.

1.- band on the run
2.- wings over america
3.- flaming pie
4.- chaos and creation
5. tug of war

I never gave too much thought to this matter, but he has some good covers that's for sure.

the new one for the R&R guitar album..... :-D

wonder if that's clapton next to dave grohl .???

nah...couldn't be...not him be on two albums in a row, right ?

i'm partial to the abracadabra of 'tug of war', 'press to play', 'flowers in the dirt' and good ol' 'mac-2'

'thrillington' would make a great t-shirt, tho...jus' sayin'

Album Covers? I have to say the best one is Press to Play. The photo is just GORGEOUS!! BOTR is another good album cover. I also like Red Rose Speedway album cover.

I'd have to go with Band on the Run as my favorite. I also like McCartney, Tug of War, McCartney II, Flowers in the Dirt. Honorable mention goes to the gatefold cover to Pipes of Peace and the metaphor that is Venus and Mars.

Think it's fair to say that Band On The Run easily gets the nod.

His worst album cover? That would be Memory Almost Full. Oh, look! It's a chair! How quaint! :-|

Memory almost full I actually find nice. Of course McCartney 2 deceives a mention. In the book that goes with the deluxe edition of that gorgeous album there is an awful lot of photos on display from the photo session to Mccartney2. And it s obvious they picked the shot where Pauls looks most surprised and stoned. That one thing that clearly shows Paul cab take chances when he ant s to. Press to play might be a nice shot but the picture does t connect to the music of the album so...

mhnso,

Deceives a mention? I like that. I don't care if the photo does not connect with the music inside. The photo of the chair doesn't either so big whoop.

Does the cover of the album have to relay what the songs are on the album? If so, then a lot of album covers are deceiving.

I don't care what anyone says, I still think the cover to Press to Play is a GORGEOUS cover whether the songs have anything to do with the cover or not. Just my humble and sincere opinion.
