Figures of 88-Pepperland

Postby bravefan » Wed Sep 28, 2011 7:48 am

I just purchased this CD (actually 2 Cd's). I love it. I've heard a lot of it before but there are a few nuggets I'm not familiar with. Can someone, MrH, or any other expert on here, enlighten me on this CD? Btw....when is the next remaster due? I believe it's supposed to be Ram. Once again thanks in advance to my learned Macca buddies.

I have that one myself - most of the stuff has been available on different bootlegs but this one is the best both concerning sound and information booklet. The music consists mostly of eraly superior takes of tracks from Press to play and the unreleased return to pepperland with some live oddity. Some great musi here without doubt. The more stripped versions of the somewhat overproduces Press to play are a joy and some of the other stuff also great . Well worth a spin or five

not only am i not an expert, oh brave one, but i've only heard mysterious things about this: could either of you please put up a track list ?

what little i do know fairly well matches with what mhnso replied.

me 'n 'boots' stopped knockin' when i moved out into the boonies, all those years ago, and i'm just not sure about trying for that stuff thru the net: the big city is sooooo far away these days...with all it's bright lights...and trusted sources for that il-gotten gain have long since gone the way of the 8-track, i'm afriad

besides..i'd just as soon have sir scooby decide he'd rather have some more of my hard earned cash, and put out a anthology of his own, than pay for a boot

...that, of course, doesn't mean i might not, either...

by the way, bravefan, i should be honest with you...since i was one of the guys making fun a few weeks back about another album (RDR, maybe?)...i am not the most knowledgable about these bootleg recordings. in fact, i have never heard of the one we are talking about now. so...

enjoy the recording.
I want to tell her that I love her a lot, but I got to get a belly full of wine.

One can always have doubts about bootlegs'
Morally - the art. artist doesn t earn anything from my purchase, maybe he don t want this stuff released. The same goes for downloading.
That issue doesn t really bother me
Sound quality- in the old days the sounfquality of most bootlegs sounded like shite. Nowadays it s more often than not ok
You don t listen to them that often - true in most casesi

Personally I don t collect bootlegs. Have some from my faveartists like Dylan, Mccartney and some more. The bootleg Idiscussed here is one I actually listen to a lot because most of the stuff is really god, the sound is good and the presentation is very good with extensive liner notes. Don t so comm in this area.
But bootlegs is the second best thing - the best would be if Macca got up from his a-e and released a series of beatifully packaded, great sounding rarites set.
