what 3 consecutive paul solo songs are best?

Postby chris » Sun Aug 14, 2011 5:38 pm

we all know paul has a lot of great songs. maybe even a few not so great ones, as well. but what makes a great album? does every song on an album have to be great? i'd suggest no. but it sure wouldn't hurt to have a sequence of songs, back to back, that build up our expectations for what is (hopefully) to follow. so i ask, what 3 songs, sung consecutively, on one album...are best?

i'd suggest what starts out on side two of tug of war.

ballroom dancing
the pound is sinking (with absolutely the best, and best sung, middle eight maybe he's ever done)
wanderlust (shame it has to be a hit for it to be known, this is one of his very best)

those are mine, fine poeple. what would yours be?
I want to tell her that I love her a lot, but I got to get a belly full of wine.

Good choices.
I would offer
London Town
Cafe on the Left Bank
I'm Carrying
from the album London Town.

I think this is hard to beat but here goes my current fav trio to listen to:

Vintage Clothes
That was me
Feet in the Clouds

if I could extend it for sure I'd say right behind those three:

House of Wax
The End of the End

Great 5 to listen to in a row.

interesting question, great choices...of the ones so far, i'd have to agree w/ the blue one

if i were a cheatin' type...i'd say

run devil run
no other baby
lonesome town

but, as two of those were not written by the big p, i'll just defer to bluey
lift up your head...and remember what your life is !

What about...

Venus and Mars

Rock show

Jet?

...from Wings over America. He opened with those songs his recent Up and coming Tour and it was just awesome.
We can make it to Mexico City...AGAIN!!!!!

Even though Denny Laine sang the middle one, I like:
Spin It On
Again and Again and Again
Old Siam, Sir
from the highly underrated Wings swansong, Back To the Egg

Easy choice for me since I spent an unhealthy time together with Mccartney 2 deluxeedition this summer

Coming up - easy one of Pauls best solopopnumbers, never get tired of this monstertrack,if the rumours are true the one that put Lennon back in business
Temporary Secretary - A very funny but also melodic stab at electronic pop - way ahead of it s time and a hit on the clubscene some years ago
On the way - On the surface a very easy bluesnumber. Drenched inb echo with an almost reggaefied dubfeeling. Repeated listening makes this a great, weird song
These three traks with everything played by Macca in many ways shows his amazing versality but also the experimental side. With the fourth song Waterfalls there also is his melodic genius. They just don t make albums like this anymore
