High and Dry

Postby jgkojak » Sat Jan 05, 2008 3:31 am

A song I've been working on, probably inspired by my current Beach Boys obsession.

When I was a child I saw the ocean glitter
Like a painting on warm summer sea
I believed to all the depths of the water
No wave could swallow me

Where water once flowed in sand
A paradise of particles partaking in the sky
And I wonder why I'm standing on the shoreline hi and dry

I'll sail away like a ship into the setting sun
I'll sail away, through the breakers and the currents
I become one (with the sea)

God knows this world will bury you
Temptation and intolerance shower your youth
And pull you under with the force of a tidal wave

Where water once reflected off the sky
An indigent slew of irresponsible currents blind my eyes
And I wonder how I could still be high and dry
Everyone's talkin' 'bout the President
We all chip in for a bag of cement
