Coldplay single's good - has a bit of bass and bite - something the snooze-fest that was X+Y lacked massively

I downloaded both. Coldplay's new single is pretty good, much better than their previous album. NIN, though, is simply amazing, one of the best albums from Trent Reznor.
I find this new strategy interesting, I wonder how it'll affect the music industry long term?
