Well, considering that the two albums were released 10 years apart, I'm not sure how that can be called a "trend"

But a lot of albums are released as annivesary-albums.

Michael Jackson_Thriller

Deep Purple album have started to be re-released as well

Nah, I think Queen was the first to re-release all their albums when they did the 20th anniverary of Queen CDs in the early 90s.

If I'm not mistaken, Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of the Moon has been reissued more than a dozen times. A good number of those may have been "anniversary" editions.

I call it a COMMERCIAL trend. Anyway, perhaps the FABS have "started" it themselves w/ SGT. PEPPER´s 20th B-day....Perhaps not. Now it´s approaching its 40th anniversary !
One (or more) recording industry exec was certainly the "mastermind" behind it.

BTW, THE WHITE ALBUM is approaching its 40th b-day !

Yep they did - 20th anniversary pic discs if memory serves me right. This must surely be the first example of this.

Incidentally, Let It Be is approaching it's 40th....maybe we'll get a DVD??

but well, I think they should release all the Beatles albums with a great booklet. I can't believe the Cds are 21 years old and still cost 15 Euro! (that shows how much they still sell)

In actual fact Let It Be's fortieth anniversary is next January!
