Standouts from first listen include:
Jack
Turn This Car ARound
Night Driver

and certain "hook" parts in certain tracks.

I may get this one. Apparently it's #1 on Amazon sales rank at the moment.

it took me a long time to appreciate petty's music, which is crazy because its exactly the kind of music i enjoy. however, having the ability to look back and observe all he's done...i think i officially annoint him/them greatest american rock and roll band. can you really name anyone more deserving?

theres the beach boys, the doors, nirvana, come one...who else has been better for this long a time?
I want to tell her that I love her a lot, but I got to get a belly full of wine.

Jack was one that stood out to me too. I'm just wondering that if over time, I'll think it's too gimmicky!?!?

Aerosmith is close, but they did have that early to mid-80s period where they were useless.

Kiss has sucked on and off for years, so you can't include them.

And other than a few new songs here and there and some tours, The Eagles haven't done anything since 1980!

So the answer is no one! No one has been better for this long of a time!

Overall yes. But we were referring to American bands.
