Code of Silence - that's a fantastic song!! I too have The Bridge album!! Yeah that was with Cyndi Lauper, and I remember there was a great song with Ray Charles on it too, and Stevie Winwood was also on that album. A Matter of Trust - one of my favourite songs from '86... next to Stranglehold of course!!!
I needed comfort of love just to get me some piece of mind.. wo-oh

After this Billy Joel discussion I can't get the image of Bill Murray the lounge singer performing "Just the Way You Are" out of my head.

Yeah, I always thought The Bridge was a pretty good album, but a lot of Billy fans consider it his worse. This Is The Time, A Matter Of Trust and Big Man On Mulberry Street are classics!! I was never a big fan of Baby Grand with Ray Charles though! Code Of Silence is my favorite song from '86... next to Livin On A Prayer of course! ;-)

One other note - Macca, of course, sampled "Tell Her About It" on Strawberries, Oceans, Ships, Forrest
And in the end...

I remember seeing a tv interview of Billy Joel discribing his first meeting with Macca. He said he could barely get a word out, and just started babbling. Macca said to him, don't worry, I did the same thing when I met Phil Everly. :)

I used to get a lot of flack from my friend for liking Billy Joel. The guy married Christy Brinkley.....how cool that?

He's also done "Hard Day's Night" live before.

When I saw him here in Dallas several years ago he did a whole medley of heavy metal covers mixed in with other songs - "Purple Haze" by Hendrix, "Good Times, Bad Times" by Zeppelin, "Hard Day's Night," "Tush" by ZZ Top, "Suspicous Minds," "Don't Be Cruel" and "Highway to Hell."

I knew he had a heavy metal background, but I'm sure many folks in the audience were caught off guard by some of those covers after they were mixed in with songs like "Just the Way You Are" and "This is the Time." He also did a lot of Christmas Carols that night because it was in December - "The First Noel," "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," "Silent Night," Greensleeves," and "Jingle Bells."

Really a great show. I've said it once, I'll say it again - he's a master showman.
And in the end...
