Bex & The O'Gees

Postby JimmyMcCullochFan » Fri Jan 30, 2009 6:31 pm

Browsing the internet this morning, I came across a page about Bex McCulloch & The O'Gees. Bex is Jimmy's niece so of course I thought I'd check it out. Here's a link to her song '2005' and when I listened to it, I was blown away. It's clear that she has followed in Jimmy's footsteps as both a talented vocalist and guitarist.

If you wouldn't mind giving the song a listen, what are your thoughts on it?

Bex & The O'Gees currently consists of:-
Bex McCulloch - Lead Vocals, guitar and sundry percussion
Michael Cowgill - Keyboards
Anton Brett - Bass
Jack McCulloch - Drums
Why this name?
Bex is Jack's daughter, and the rest of the band are all over 40 hence Bex, and you can guess what O'Gees stands for?
Do you play live?
Yes - pubs and clubs around our hometown of Retford, Notts, UK
In the heart of Pilgrim Father country
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It enables bands and artists to promote themselves without the need for a record company.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, if the money was good enough.
Band History:
Originally Montana Uk, the backing band for a country singer. Became Bex & The O'Gees when the singer left, and Bex's band also broke up.
Your influences?
Major influences the rock bands from the 70's such as Stealer's Wheel, The Eagles, The Band, Thunderclap Newman etc ... ndID=79113
"Wings IV introduced Jimmy McCulloch, a spunky lead guitarist with grit, able to spur Paul on unlike any previous soloist. His debut track, the magnificent single `Junior's Farm', stands as one of Wings' finest emotional and technical releases."
