New Joe Walsh

Postby jgkojak » Sat Apr 28, 2012 1:46 pm

Macca connection?

1) Joe is Ringo's new brother in law.
2) Joe has played Claptons part on Macca's live renditions of My Valentine
3) Ringo plays on Joe's new album.
4) This song was produced by JEFF LYNNE!
5) This is a damn good song with lyrics that pretty much hit home.

parts of it sound like old joe walsh. great bluesy power chords...a sense of humor (even a bit of truth) to the lyrics.

always been an underrated guitarist. and usually could be counted on for interesting (observational) lyrics.

had the chance to see him live a few times. always put on a great show.

thanks again, jg...

unfortunately it is hard for artists to measure up to previous work

I kept waiting for the excellence moments like in "Life is good". The lyrics seemed a bit forced. Nice enough but not great or even very good.

yeah...'forced' sounds like the right word...neat idea, but, to me, it feels like he's trying too hard to make it all work...

plus, it felt...slow...which can be fine (see warren zevons 'rub me raw') but lacks a real, hard bite to make it work for me

nice try, tho

There are some little lyrical details that are missing- just tiny things that make a difference.

"I access my e-mail read all my spam"

should be

"Can't access my e-mail but I still read all my spam"

Likewise, the

"I'm an analog man in a digital world/
I wanna find me an analog girl"

should actually be

I wanna find me a DIGITAL girl
who loves me for who I am...

a lot funnier...

i can see, jg, where that would be more humorous: maybe a little more sardonic humor in the singing would've made it a more pointed remark on our world today.

don't get me wrong, to...i like the song...but, so far, that's about it

Actually, I prefer the line as he wrote it. Meaning he wants some like minded person who wont try to change him.
