A Little Less Solo Ringo, Please?

Postby beatlelarry » Thu Sep 07, 2006 9:43 am

We all love Ringo, but I think Maccaradio plays entirely too much solo Ringo material. Some of it is just downright bad and never deserves airtime. I'd prefer more Macca and more Beatles. Anyone else agree? All in all though, a superb effort by Mike and a wonderful station. Thanks.

I love Ringo. He has released some bad material, but he is the freaking drummer. Only a handful of drummers have gone on to be solo artists, and have as many hits as Ringo. There are a lot of artists that would love to have his catalog of solo songs. The radio station is Beatles solo & friends.

Ringo has released more solo material than both George and John, yet it does not seem right that quantity = quality!

Basically, I agree with beatlelarry - if MaccaRadio was just for me, it would only play Macca, the Beatles, John and George (in that order) and perhaps some Rusty songs and some Traveling Wilburys every now and then - no Ringo, no Badfinger, no Mary Hopkin (I like this Italian song though)... but I am aware that first, it is Mike's radio station and second, there are people with different tastes than my own - so I just tune out when Ringo or Badfinger come on and wait for "better times to come" or "good times coming", as someone else put it
It's the start of a journey
To a much better place
And this wasn't bad
So a much better place
Would have to be special...

Pt system

Postby jgkojak » Sat Sep 09, 2006 12:33 am

I have always suggested (though this is a HUGE undertaking) some sort of pt. system for the randomplay times-- that could tweak the computer to play things a little differently- heck-- Mike could even tweak it here and there just to shake things up a little.

I hear all of you. This really started off mostly Paul but it really alianated Beatle fans so the airplay was explanded Beatles, Solo & Friends. If I had enought donators I would start a separate channel just for Paul BUT that is where the problems is. I can count on ONE HAND how many people have been contributing of late and you know who you are and thank you. It is the rest of the listeners that I wish could be inspired to contribute regularly or at all for that matter.

As some stations have a SUBSCRIPTION ONLY broadcast, this is being considered for the high quality stream. If this was to happen the low quality stream would remain free. I'd like to hear some comments on that.

I like SOME Beatle friends

Postby jgkojak » Sat Sep 09, 2006 4:45 pm

I kinda like some Beatle friends...

I actually wouldn't even mind songs that might interest Beatle fans (the latest Dylan, etc.)

The trouble is that the ratios are wrong-

Ideally out of every 20 songs:

3 would be Beatles
5 would be WIngs
5 would be solo Paul
1 John
1 George
1 Ringo
1 direct contribution Beatle friend (McGear, Wilbury)
1 Beatle connected (Badfinger, etc)
2 boots/obscure unoffical recordings
