Why doesn't Give Ireland play???

Postby jgkojak » Fri Jul 29, 2005 12:52 pm

I have notieced Give Ireland on-deck now three times... and it alwasy disappears before it plays--

Is it my imagination? Is there a reason for this?

Saw it again

Ireland was qued up-- ready to switch-- and

boom! I Lie Around instead...

I have two views on this- if its intentional-
1) This is a great site and Mike can do whatever he wants.

2) Censorship saddens me and is certainly not in the spirit of the Beatles.

Funny You Should Mention That

I too have requested "Give Ireland Back to the Irish" but yet it wouldn't play (even though the other 2 of 3 requests that I'd make would play). I'm sure there's quite a demand for this song, one that I've maybe heard once on the radio before (of course, many times on my own), but yet it's one of Paul's strongest political statements in music (and now, more than 30 years later, a piece of art associated with a part of British history). No wonder it's #2 in all-time requests here!

Good idea, bet you're "watching the wheels"
It's the start of a journey
To a much better place
And this wasn't bad
So a much better place
Would have to be special...

Censorship :) No, it's an error. I noticed this a month or so ago, looked at it quickly and couldn't fine the problem then I forgot about it.

I do everything here and some things do get overlooked, thanks for pointing this out for me.

FOLLOWUP: I checked into it again, found the problem and fixed it. It's cued up to play right now as the next song, and it successfully played.

Thank you for putting up with all of us--

In this day and age (especially from the USA) there is a good bit of paranoia around about this kind of thing...

I need to remember what the Kinks said...

I just noticed the same thing happened with a couple of George songs that someone requested -- "Dark Horse" and "Far East Man." They were both in the queue, and then disappeared. Also, I have tried to request "Same Love" a couple times, and it never showed up in the queue.

Beyond those little things, I must say I'm quite enjoying the recent tweaks to the site, and the newly added songs!
