I enjoy maccaradio very much by the way, thank you.
I am a 40 year old mother of twins, I work in Telecommunications and I am a long time Beatle freak.
I've searched the database and found this thread regarding my question.
I've created this avatar and wondered if it was appropriate. I can airbrush over any ladybits that are not appropriate without a problem.

Well if those are real nipples, we do have some young people here, I'm all for nipples

but perhaps an airbrush may be more politically correct.

I hate political correctness, I really do. I say it like it is on the most part but then at times I contradict myself.

I general I don't allow private avatars as this can lead to abuse and since I do everything on MACCAcentral including now MACCAradio my self is very limited so simple rules must be kept.

To allow your personal avatar I'll have to spend 5 or 10 minutes editing to allow for yours, then others may request this. I do have the option for everyone to upload their own avatar with little administration needed by me BUT, like I said I pay for everything. Images take up more bandwidth and that costs me more money.

Now saying all that I have considered revamping the MACCAclub and with a yearly membership would include things like your own personal avatar and access to more areas like requesting songs on MACCAradio. That is down the road as I've got lots of code to write for that.

I can:
A. certainly understand setting a not so good precedent being both Mod, God and spinjock.
B. I can definitely airbrush those out as wouldn't want to any babyeggs look upon them.
C. I can wait with my airbrushed Pam avatar until you've implemented the option for everyone to upload their own avatar or until we all quickly throw some more contributions your way.

Point taken, but for a tiny little avatar, we're talking a miniscule 5k per image. In this day and age of high-speed broadband and 400 gig sata hard drives, 5k isn't a drop in the bucket, it's an electron in a swimming pool!

One connection of 5k is not much at all. multiply that by thousands each day it adds up believe you me. You have no idea of the amount of traffic this site gets. MACCA-Forums is an electron in a swimming pool.

Again, it's not all because of the bandwidth eveyone's custom uploaded avatar would take but really the time to police the people who try to use porno or modified images for the sole purpose of disgracing. Right now I spend ZERO time policing avatars. If I allow it, then I will have to police it.

Saying that I will go in and allow uploaded avatars and if it gets abused then I will simply disable it, we'll give it a go for a while.
