But really, the Spector version wasn't all that bad, and I'd still take his production over the dull gloss heard throughout this revisionist collection. Attractively packaged on vinyl, though...

Then I suppose you haven't heard "Across the Universe" yet?? Funnily enough, lots of people (including yours truly) agree that this is the song which most benefitted from the "stripping" - even though John was in favour of Spector and Paul was not.
It's the start of a journey
To a much better place
And this wasn't bad
So a much better place
Would have to be special...

Agree only 50% - for me it's such a great song, I like both versions alike. I think it was Kyle who once said that it is a song which lends itself to the "Spector wall of sound" and I would subscribe to that. Both versions are great for me. But in the case of "Across the Universe" - once having heard the "despectorized" version, I don't even want to hear the other one again because the "naked" version to me is infinitely superior - but everyone has their own tastes...

I feel the same way about LAWR, without question. Everytime the radio plays the Spectorized version, I switch stations. The Naked version was the way macca wanted it and it's so pure and beautiful and far superior.

I think past masters vol. 2 has the best version of "Across the universe".
