Heard once that Maggie was a known british aged slut...would she be the same lady of Rod´s song??Just a speculation ´cos Rod is british too...

Different songs of course, but I remember seeing Rod Stewart in a tv interview once and said he wrote the song about a fling with one of his early (young) girlfriends.

Sorry, I can't help you there, the only thing I know about the song datewise, is that it hit #1 in October 1971 on both sides of the Atlantic. Maybe some Googling will provide an answer for you?
