It's a great sound, love it. Nowadays they have effects pedals and stuff to get a sitar-sounding guitar sound.

An alternative to using an actual sitar is raga-style guitar playing, which also flips my switch. My guitar playing bro believes surf-rocker Dick Dale (who was born in Lebanon) was the first one to make it popular in songs like Miserlou (as heard in the PULP FICTION soundtrack).

Vanilla Fudge (who the Beatles really dug) did some raga-guitar stuff in the extended version of Keep Me Hanging On. It's also in Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride intro. Jimmy Page used raga-licks alot in Led Zep tunes like Dancing Days, etc.

There is some semblance of it in Paul's Taxman lead, IMO. LOVE IT!

If that's what it's called (and I trust what you are saying), then I'm a HUGE fan of Raga-Licks.

I think old Raga was a cousin of Stevie Nicks...she Americanized her name..he didnt....oh yeah..i know..that's a GROANER!!!! :wink:

This album is a 9/10 for me...my favourite songs on this album are "I'm Looking Through You" and "You Won't See Me"...even though there are several well-known songs on here that we all know and love that I won't mention, it's these other 2 songs that I find myself drawn to more than the well-known material.

John once said that he always hated "Run For Your Life"...it was a throwaway song he wasn't all-too-proud of. For me it is possibly the only weak-ish track on there, though I love the tearing lead guitar solo on it.
